   the director; he’s the 1st asst director or “1st AD.” he doesn’t direct in
   the artistic sense, but rather runs the set. he controls the pace of the
   shoot and all the moving parts (camera operators, lighting, extras, etc.)
   and allows the director to concentrate on the vision of the shot.
