I always see cats who think they are so hot when it comes to rhyming and there flow. I have seen cats say, “Either you got flow or you don’t” go into the booth, pull out their cell phone and read they’re rhymes. Come out the booth and listen to it and be like yeah that’s hot. And I tell them straight up. Dawg, it sounds like your reading your rap nad nort saying it. Your flow sounds stiffer than a body in the trunk. And they are so lazy they just say that’s cool cause they don’t feel like going back in and redoing it. They rather just somke, drink and bob their head in front of the raggedy chick they invited to the studio. Trying to act like they just recorded the next Tupac hit single.
Well to in order to earn the top slot in the rap game and stay there, you got to take your studio sessions and songs serious. And when it comes to recording that’s how serious Lil Wayne is. When you see the following video, you wont see a lot of chicks chillin in the studio. You won’t see him smoking and drinkin and playing around like he’s in the champagne room at the strip club. You are going to see this cat workin.
Now with that being said (rather you like Lil Wayne or not), this is proof of how on point Lil Wayne is when it comes to his flow.
LET’S ANALYZE
In the video below at 0:27 he records “But I’m Stevie Wonder to the bull*hit”. But in the album version of the song, Lil Wayne changes it to “But I’m Ray Charles to the bull*hit”. Now you can clearly see that after he recorded the song and listened to it. He heard how saying the name “Stevie Wonder” threw his flow off because there was to many syllables in it. And to make sure he stayed in the pocket of the flow, he went back in the studio and changed it to “Ray Charles”. Why? Because the name Ray Charles has less syllables in it and it gave him enough room in the bar (4 count) to get even more in pocket with the flow of the next line which is one of the most important lines of a verse. The last line.
